For the second year in a row, Fred Meyer stores across Alaska have chosen to support Camp Fire through their check-out coin collection boxes! Please join us in thanking them for their continued commitment to Alaska's youth. Boxes will be out through the end of May...

Camp Fire is proud to partner with the National Military Family Association again this summer to host TWO Operation Purple® camps at Camp K on Kenai Lake. These camps are offered at no cost to Alaska youth thanks to support from the NMFA and local businesses and individuals. Please consider making a contribution. Every dollar counts!

Remarkable Youth!
Camp Fire’s Board of Directors congratulates Emma Hill on being nominated for the Spirit of Youth award that recognizes and shows appreciation for teens who are contributing to our community in positive ways. That work for Emma is through her employment as a Program Aide with Camp Fire at our Chugach Optional site. Read more...

“You make me smile because…”
Didn't write a letter on March 15th? It's not too late! Write one today, tomorrow, or any day of the year... Just a few words become a few sentences. Soon, these words create a touching letter, telling a child how much he or she is loved, and offering words of encouragement that can last a lifetime. Camp Fire
believes every kid in Alaska deserves a letter...so write your own letters telling the kids in your life just how absolutely incredible they really are. It’s that easy! Learn More...

Camp Fire Volunteers are the Best!
...and now have national recognition to boot.

Thanks to the great work of Camp Fire fans, ECI/Hyer Architecture and Interiors, our own Camp K gets a face lift, and they get national recognition for their creative and generous volunteer work.

In the new publication, The Power of Pro Bono, 40 architectural firms are highlighted for their above and beyond efforts to improve aspects of their communities and show their philanthropy in real and tangible ways.

ALASKA COUNCIL RECEIVES NATIONAL FAMILY STRENGTHENING AWARD
The Alaska Council was selected by Camp Fire USA National Headquarters as a 2009 Families Count: Family Strengthening Award Winner! This award is given by Camp Fire USA, in partnership with the Annie E. Casey Foundation, each year to affiliated councils across the country that best integrate family strengthening.

Here are some highlights from the award announcement showing why the Council was chosen:

The Alaska Council strengthens families by implementing inclusive, quality programs for youth that are accessible and affordable for working parents.

The council invests significant time and resources to advocating for services that support families throughout the state.

The council has a full time staff position, the Family Services Program Manager, who is dedicated to engaging and supporting families.

We are very proud of this recognition and are most grateful to our staff and for the generous support we receive each year from the many individuals, corporations and foundations who share our vision and our commitment to Alaska's youth and families.

SECOND NATIONAL ACCREDITATION FOR THE ALASKA COUNCIL'S PROGRAMS!

NATIONAL AFTERSCHOOL ACCREDITATION
Camp Fire is very proud to announce that its school age child care program at Nunaka Valley has been awarded the status of Nationally Accredited Afterschool Program by the National AfterSchool Association (NAA)! This is the agency's second after-school program to receive the award, which recognizes quality programming that is family focused, professionally managed and based on measurable standards. Nunaka Valley Elementary follows Chugach Optional in receiving this award.
