Over the past several years, the Alaska Council has heard from an increasing number of parents and community members that selling and/or purchasing candy is not how they would most like to support Camp Fire's programs.  Many parents have shared with us that finding the time to participate in a traditional candy sale with their child can be difficult, and that they would prefer to "just write a check".

We've been listening.

We have also been watching the escalating costs and strain on the Council's resources associated with conducting an annual candy sale, and for these reasons Camp Fire has decided not to hold a candy sale this year.

How Does This Impact Camp Fire's Programs?

Money raised through the annual candy sale supports programs that are vital to children and families across Alaska. We still need to raise $35,000, so this year we are holding a 'No-Candy' Candy Sale.

The 'No-Candy' Candy Sale is a call to parents, alumni, friends and community supporters to give what they can to help the Council make this transition.  Even though it has a light-hearted name, the sale has the serious goal of replacing the $35,000 loss in revenue incurred from not selling candy.  These funds enable us to provide direct support to youth and families through:

Program scholarships for families who are facing financial difficulties

After-school community centers in low-income neighborhoods

Additional staffing for children with special needs

  How Can You Help?

Whether you have children in the programs, did in the past, or just want to be a friend of Camp Fire, your donation will help us bridge this transition and continue to offer these vital programs.

To help, just select a donation level, write a check or go online to contribute. There's no candy to sell, orders to take, money to track or deliveries to schedule - and for Camp Fire there's no cost of product, shipping, distribution and staff monitoring of candy.

Please help us spread the word by forwarding this to others.  If you have children in our programs, encourage them to contact people who bought candy last year.

On behalf of the youth and families we serve, we thank you for your past support, and for helping us today as we move beyond the candy sale.

Suggested Donation Levels:
$25, $45, $75, $100, $500, $1,000
